Puppy School in Yandina
At Yandina Vet Clinic, we treat your furry friends like family, offering caring support, alternative options and a friendly team that goes beyond a standard vet clinic.
Confident Starts with Puppy School
The first few months of a puppy’s life play a huge role in shaping their behaviour and confidence. That’s why we encourage all new puppy owners to start early with positive training and socialisation.
Our Puppy Preschool is proudly run at our sister clinic, All Animal Veterinary Services, in Nambour. It’s a safe, nurturing environment where puppies and owners can learn, build trust and have plenty of fun together.
Classes focus on positive, reward-based training, covering basic obedience, socialisation and practical skills such as toilet training and good manners.

Why Puppy School Benefits Every Pup?
Puppy school sets the stage for a lifetime of good habits, not just learning “sit” and “stay." Classes provide crucial socialisation during the critical development window, helping puppies grow into confident adults who are comfortable around new people, pets and environments.
Owners benefit too, with expert guidance on managing common challenges like chewing, barking and house training. Positive reinforcement builds trust, while structured playtime teaches puppies how to interact safely with others. Starting early makes future training smoother and reduces the likelihood of behavioural issues later in life. It’s an investment in harmony at home and calmness in public.

FAQ
When should I enrol my puppy in school?
The best time to enrol is between eight and sixteen weeks old, during the critical socialisation period. At this age, puppies are highly receptive to learning and forming positive associations. Waiting too long can make training harder, as habits — both good and bad — become ingrained.
Many schools allow enrolment after the first round of vaccinations, with classes continuing alongside the vaccination schedule. Early training gives puppies a head start in becoming well-mannered companions.
What will my puppy learn at school?
Puppies learn essential skills like sit, stay, come and walking on a lead. They also practise socialising with other dogs and people, which helps reduce fear and anxiety later. Classes often cover toilet training, bite inhibition and handling exercises to prepare for vet visits or grooming.
Owners gain valuable tips on consistent training and behaviour management. The goal is a happy, confident puppy who knows how to behave in everyday situations.
Do all dogs need puppy school?
While not mandatory, puppy school is highly recommended for most dogs. Even naturally confident puppies benefit from structured training and socialisation. It helps prevent behavioural problems, makes future learning easier and strengthens the bond between owner and dog.
For shy or anxious puppies, school offers a safe, supportive environment to build confidence. By attending, both puppies and owners gain skills that contribute to a smoother, more enjoyable life together in the long run.
